Use
this information with care
The
station reading alone cannot tell you whether an area is
flooded. Some low-lying areas may flood before our measurements,
taken from the riverbanks, reach alarm level. Good forecasting
requires putting information together from various sources.
For the best estimate possible, look at the station reading
together with the maps on topography, land use and flood
extent, and the cross-section drawing of the river. Flash
floods can happen along the major tributaries and creeks
near the Mekong when heavy rainfall occurs and the river
water starts to back up. These are very hard to predict.
The accuracy of predictions decreases with each day away
from the recorded level.

in to a part of the Mekong basin. These maps show the location and
the status of various hydrological stations. Clicking on a station
will bring you to page with station information: observed and
forecasted water levels, as well as yearly observations.
Alternatively, you can click on a station name on the bottom of this
page to go directly to the station information page.
