General Weather Situation over LMB 12 May 2008, 12:00 LT
A trough of low pressure cells in Inter-Tropical
Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is linking between an active low pressure cell in the
upper Andaman Sea and an active low pressure cell in the middle South China Sea,
and the southwest monsoon is intensifying over the region during 12 – 15 May.
Widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rainfall are expected over lower
parts of the LMB, particularly lower part of northeast of Thailand, middle and
south of Lao PDR, Cambodia, central of Viet Nam through Mekong Delta. Scattered
thundershowers with isolated heavy rainfall are also expected in the north of
Thailand.
Since the southwest monsoon was onset and already started
over the region and the Indochina Peninsula, people in these areas, particularly
in the valley or low-lands in the terrains of the LMB should beware of hazardous
weather impacts and flash floods with occasionally landslides from heavy
rainfall.
Concerning organizations should daily study synoptic analysis
and clouds satellite imagery which are available in various websites of member
countries for preparedness and prevention during this week.
