About the River Information

The aim of this part of MRC web site is to inform about current or/and forecasted hydrological conditions in the Mekong basin and to convey this information in an understandable way.

This river monitoring and early warning web site is not final yet. Besides the weekly updates on the water level situation in the Mekong basin, we will work to add new features and to incorporate end-user requirements.

This site is updated every Monday noon.

The Mekong River Commission is interested in feedback from the users of this part of the web site. Please email your requirements, suggestions and remarks to floodinfo@mrcmekong.org.

The Mekong River Commission (MRC) makes this data available as a service to the peoples of the Mekong River basin.

The MRC does not guarantee the data is current nor does it guarantee that the data, the data capturing processes or the flood forecasting methodologies are free from corruption or error.

Flood forecasting data is produced using internationally accepted methodologies with due care. However the accuracy of the predictions cannot be guaranteed. It must also be noted that the accuracy of predictions decreases with each day away from the recorded level.

It must be recognized that these flood level predictions rely on 5 day rainfall forecasts. The reliability of these rainfall forecasts drop with each day and these doubts are reflected in the flood predictions the MRC produces.

Data users are cautioned to consider carefully the provisional nature of the information provided. Individual judgment must be employed before using the data for decisions that concern personal or public safety or the conduct of business that involves substantial monetary or operational consequences.
